Just Married

So I want to write down a little bit about me and my new husband. I am a terrible journal writer, so I thought, I'm gonna start a blog with tips to myself (and maybe anyone else who happens to read).
My name is Heidi Llyn Shurtz (Palu) and I grew up in Orem, UT. I have grown up loving sports. I played 4 years of high school volleyball. It is by far the best sport and brings me so much joy. I met Leka in 9th grade. Me and a couple friends were trying out the shotput in track, and he was there. I totally thought he was the coach cause he was super buff and he just looked way old. Well, I can write our whole story later. The point is, he became my best friend and asked me to marry him! It was the greatest day of my life.
The entire day was a dream.
Now, I was married civilly in a church around the corner from my house. I cannot describe the feeling of gratitude that I felt that day for all who helped me.
I remember waking up next to my sister and my sister handed me a smoothie and we were off to the church to get ready. I remember the first thing we did was curl my hair and then I curled Monique's hair while Whitney did mine. I got very hot all of a sudden and I tried to stand outside, then I was laying on the floor, and next thing I knew, I'm throwing up! Thank goodness I made it outside! After we were all ready we went to put on my dress. There were 2 underskirts and one of the strings on one wouldn't tie. So I was panicking as the ceremony was suppose to start at 11, and it was already 11:05. Turns out Leka's mom wasn't even there yet and he was having a huge anxiety attack.
Finally at about 11:20, his mom showed up and we were able to start the ceremony. My dad came and got me. I love my dad so much. He's one of my best friends. Just an outstanding guy that does so much good. It was the most overwhelming thing of my life and an experience I will never forget. We walked in and everyone was standing. I can't explain the pure joy that I felt as we walked into that room. Then I saw him. My best friend. The one who makes me smile and laugh. The one who gives me butterflies. The one who I knew, without a doubt, was going to make me the happiest girl in the world for the rest of my life. I have never felt this way about anyone in my entire life. Though I'm walking down the aisle surrounded by family and friends galore, all I can see is my handsome prince. His face said it all. He simply had the most indescribable look on his face. That's a face I'll never forget.
As we walked toward him, I was very aware of my father and that in itself was emotional. I don't think there was a dry eye in the house. We sat and listened as the bishop told the story of the china set. It was a beautiful story. He held my hand and we sat there in complete bliss. The bishop then invited us up to... well, say, "I do." It was a memorable moment. What made it the best, after we exchanged rings and kissed, Leka says, "So now what?" which made everyone laugh.
What a good day.
I think what truly made the day special was the support that me and my husband had. We couldn't have done it without my amazing mother. She truly went out of her way to make it just a dream for me. I cannot just stop there either. I feel as though everyone I know made an effort to give me such a special day. It couldn't have been any better. I cannot say enough thanks. I love my family so much, and even more I am a happily married woman.
I could not love my husband more and I know this love will only grow as we get older.
I just wanted to remember that part specifically though the whole day was the best.

I haven't gotten pictures back yet, but I'm sure those will be the first things I post when I get them back!
